from Connection Quantity vs. Quality

You can have Connection Quantity AND Quality!
Quantity and Quality are not mutually exclusive ... at least when it comes to using LinkedIn. It's really a question of Quality only vs. Quality and Quantity.
Everyone has trusted quality connections. These are the people that you know. You help them any way you can, and already do so via phone and email. Strong connections go the extra mile. You can turn to them for extended help. You provide personal recommendations and endorsements on LinkedIn. When you have a choice of people to send an Introduction through, you choose your quality connections. You support these strong connections whether you have 10 connections or 10,000.
There are many benefits to having a lot of connections. There are different expectations with weak connections compared to your trusted connections. Weak connections forward one another's requests. But that's it. There is no expectation of personal or custom service. You wouldn't (and shouldn't) provide an endorsement of a weak connection. Helping weak connections doesn't take away from your support of your trusted connections. If you have the time and interest to GrowYourNetwork, why not do so?

AN ASIDE. Can't we all just get along? I find this to be a silly polarized debate. I blame those in the Quality camp where a few take a militant perspective. Emboldened by LinkedIn's design and support, they seek to dictate to ActiveNetworkers how they can build their own networks. Hey, just let people link to whoever they want!
